The 106th Rugby Europe Annual General Meeting has taken place in Paris today (8 November) where a newly elected President and Board of Directors has been voted in for the next 4-year cycle.
Octavian Morariu hands over the batten after completing an impressive mandate and three terms as President.
Janhein Pieterse of the Netherlands has been elected as President of Rugby Europe, he will serve until the next elections in 2028.

The new board will consist of the following members:
- Veceslav Holijevac (Croatia) 52 votes
- Veronica Muehlhofer (Switzerland) 50 votes
- Mark Orr (Ireland) 49 votes
- Dick Tyler (England) 47 votes
- Francesca Gallina (Italy) 45 votes
- Ricardo Nunes (Portugal) 45 votes
- Marlene Linddbjerg Jakobsen (Denmark) 41 votes
- Peter Macnaughton (France) 39 votes
- Audry Vella (Malta) 38 votes
- Karlis Vents (Latvia) 38 votes
The board has co-opted Pavel Mysak from Czechia as General Secretary and Veronica Muehlhofer as the second Rugby Europe representative at World Rugby Council, alongside the newly elected President, Janhein Pieterse. Vincent Taupin will remain as independent non-executive director and Florent Marty as CEO.
After being elected Janhein Pieterse said, “It’s a great honour to be elected by the members of Rugby Europe as their new President and have the confidence of our unions to take the game forward. It’s time to continue to grow rugby in Europe and make it successful.”
